Innovation Facilitators at Faculty of Science, Aarhus University

Science Bridge is a new strategic initiative at the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Aarhus University, established to strengthen the connection between research and society by promoting early and systematic knowledge exchange. The aim is to enable more research results to contribute with innovative responses to key societal challenges.
We are looking to recruit up to four Innovation specialists for Science Bridge.

As an Innovation specialist in Science Bridge, you will work at the forefront of innovation, collaboration and societal engagement. You will support researchers across the faculty’s scientific disciplines in building bridges between research, industry, and society.
You will play a key role in initiating, structuring, and maintaining interdisciplinary and cross-sector collaborations. In close interaction with researchers and external partners, you will identify collaboration opportunities, act as a “translator” between academic and non-academic contexts and ensure progress and continuity within and across defined focus areas known as Actions.

You will join a newly established team of Innovation specialists at Science Bridge. The ideal team will represent diverse competences, including natural sciences but not limited to this, and ideally multiple nationalities. In addition, we aim to build a team with strong, collective knowledge of both the Danish research and innovation landscape– including funding schemes and industry – as well as European companies and funding opportunities.
As an Innovation specialist, you will be part of the Science Bridge secretariat, which will also include a Director, a Head of Secretariat and a small number of additional staff. As Science Bridge is a newly established unit, you will have a real opportunity to shape the team’s tasks, structure and focus. There will also be good opportunities for professional development.

Formalities and salary range
Salary and terms as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and the Confederation of Professional Unions.
You will be employed as a Special consultant or Senior consultant.
The base salary as a Special consultant is 450.909,00 and the base salary for a Senior consultant is 485.345,00.

Your main tasks will include:
- Initiating relationships with relevant internal and external partners and contributing to the development and maintenance of strong collaborations in close cooperation with the faculty’s research environments and existing professional networks
- Initiating, structuring and driving Actions – smaller, interdisciplinary collaborations where researchers and external partners share knowledge and jointly explore specific challenges
- Supporting the establishment of collaborations and consortia with the aim of preparing joint applications to private foundations, Innovation Fund Denmark and Horizon Europe
- Facilitating dialogue and matchmaking between researchers and relevant companies, organisations and public authorities
- Contributing to a culture where collaboration, knowledge exchange and entrepreneurship are an integrated part of research and education across the faculty
Your profile
We are looking for candidates with a strong interest in bridging science and the early stages of innovation and who are motivated by turning strategic ambitions into concrete activities and collaborations.
Candidates should:
- Have experience with process management, innovation and strategic development
- Are motivated by creating results at the intersection between research and application
- Have experience working in or with research environments; experience with collaboration between research and industry (e.g. from a company, organisation or research institution) is an advantage
- Are able to identify and develop the potential of research ideas and connect them to societal and industry needs
- Are proactive, relationship-oriented and a strong communicator who can navigate across disciplines
- Preferably have experience with fundraising and proposal development in relation to national or European programmes, although this is not a requirement
- Work in a structured, proactive and results-oriented manner
- Have a high level of proficiency in English; Non-Danish speaking candidates must be willing to learn Danish within two years. Danish language training will be provided.
